1888 Center opened in 2018. We transformed 1,800 square feet into an accessible and adaptable bookstore, café, gallery, and multipurpose space for events and workshops.
Our award-winning “Placemaking Shoebox” welcomed more than 210+ daily visitors with online opportunities reaching over 1.2 million participants worldwide.
In our first two years, through collaborations with local and national academic institutions, public-private corporations, and nonprofits around the world, we produced 364 educational programs, published 54 books, and recorded 246 podcast episodes, all within a $90,000 annual budget.
